Project Details
This large planted tank features multiple medium to large branches of Manzanita Wood that were soaked in water for 2 months. The tank was initially planted with palm-sized patches of Taiwan Moss (Taxiphyllum alternans) that grew slowly and eventually covered the branches. Consistent trimming of plants was needed in order to maintain the aquascape and stop overhanging plants from over shading the plants below. The sole purpose of this tank was to enter the 2006 International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest hosted by Aqua Design Amano. Healthy and quick plant growth were required and many lessons were learned during its lifespan. The depth that is explored by hardscape and plant placement was one of its most captivating qualities.
2007 International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest Rank #77
